convert DVD ISO to ISO file

convert DVD ISO to ISO file

Say I have a DVD containing ISO of a Linux distribution. How can I convert the DVD back to an ISO file ? This post assumes that you work in a Linux System

Attempting to get Block Size and Volume Size

isoinfo -d -i /dev/cdrom | grep -i -E 'block size|volume size'

Logical block size is: 2048
Volume size is: 327867

dd stands for Data Destroyer, a Data Backup / Destroyer tool.A utility that comes by default in LINUX.

Attempting to copy the DVD to an ISO Image

dd if=/dev/cdrom of=test.iso bs=<block size from above> count=<volume size from above>

In Our case,

dd if=/dev/cdrom of=test.iso bs=2048 count=327867
