Cloudstack reviews
I have not worked much on CloudStack.
But I got a chance to see it UI.
UI of CloudStack is very good , that even a beginner could understand the CloudStack terms.
I observered the following features.
1. CloudStack has feature to show events and Alerts.Events like User Registration, VM Creation, etc
2. CloudStack has 2 roles - User and Admin
Admin -> Super User, who can create / delete / enable / disable a User
No separate page for a Anonymous user to request to create a Account.Only Admin can create a User.
3. If you have worked in Eucalyptus,You would have faced this. Infrastructure type is limited only to 5 Types (m1.small, c1.medium,m1.large,m1.xlarge,c1.large).But in Cloud Stack, there is no such limitation. One feature is that you can create any Infrastructure Type you want. In Eucalyptus, we can fix No. of CPU,RAM and Disk.
But in Cloud Stack, Admin can fix Network rate .(Yet to be explored by myself).
4. Regarding creating Images and uploading into Eucalyputs, its some what a difficult task.
But in Cloud Stack,Admin can upload VM Templates from Web Portal.(Yet to be explored by myself).
5. OpenSource version of Eucalyptus supports Xen and KVM only.Whereas Enterprise Version of Eucalyptus supports Xen,KVM and VMware. CloudStack software works with a variety of hypervisors including Oracle VM, KVM, vSphere and Citrix XenServer .
6. We have notification interface at top center of the Page, Where all recent events are notified. This is very informative.7. CloudStack Portal , there is a facility to create projects, where you can create a project, map a user to a project.(Yet to be explored by myself).
8. CloudStack Portal has a feature to restrict creation of Virtual Machines for Users.
9. CloudStack Portal has a feature, that User / Admin could loginto the Virtual Machine from the Portal.(Access VM Console from Portal). For this CloudStack has 2 Default VM's running (ConsoleVM - Console Purpose, Secondary Storage VM).
These 2 VM's are called as System VM.
10. Also the CLI API requires XML Parsing. The following document explains about the CloudStack API.
This URL shows the features available in CloudStack.

There are many things yet, that I have to explore in CloudStack.
Thanks to my colleague, who installed the setup and gave me the link to explore the UI . :)
